Achievements of the department of physical education 2009-10

ORGANIZATION:

            The Department conducted the Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate North Zone Cricket tournament (October 15^th to November 26^th, 2009) for the year 2009-2010.  The Department also conducted the Acharya Nagarjuna University Inter-collegiate Soft Ball Tournament from 05.11.2009 to 07.11.2009.

The Department continues to organize intra-mural tournaments separately for the Intermediate, Degree and P.G. sections on departmental basis, which encouraged better and large scale participation of students in sports and games. 

BASKET BALL

             Our Basketball team won the second place in the Acharya Nagarjuna University  Intercollegiate Basket Ball Tournament held at JKC College Guntur.

Congratulations to the team consisting of   Caption  Muana III Year , Palden III Year,Marshall III Year, Kranthi II MCA , Tenzin Shakya III Year,Jampa II Year, Tsering Palden II Year, Prasanth II Year, Naresh and Bosco  II year .

            Iam happy to inform that this team is going to participate in the Loyola Academy, Alwal  Basket Ball  Intercollegiate tournament.

FOOT BALL:

            I am happy to place on record, that our domination in the Acharya Nagarjuna University inter Collegiate Foot Ball competition is unchallenged even in this year too. Since from the inception of the University, during the span of 30 years, our Foot Ball Team has won the trophy for 26 years and was the runner up for 2 years.  Hats -Off to ALC Foot Ball Team, which won the trophy this year also, unbeaten for the last sixteen years in succession. A word of appreciation for  our Team Captain of the team, Sang (DEH 24), Hau (DEH 22) Choezin Thupten (DO 73), Thang (DEH 24.),Ishwar kujur (NGH 16),Isphel (DO 51 ) Jampa(NO 27),Yiwang(NO 78) Tashi(AOC 34), Lahwang(AEH 13), Karma(NO 60), Adam (AGH 09),Kushang(Ao 23),Kunga(AO 44) Deva (DGH 13), Johnson(NEH 27) Bhuchung(AO 59) Jigme(NOC 30),  I wholeheartedly congratulate the Captain and the team for bringing  the laurels to Loyola .

HOCKEY:

            ALC Hockey Team won the first place in the ANU inter-collegiate tournament held at ANU on 5^th Nov.2009.  Congratulations to the Hockey Team: the Captain of the Team, Pradeep Ekka (DO 77) , Kalyan Panna (DO 78), Nitin(DO 78), Sanjeev(DSC 39), Sameer( NML 59), Niroj(NO 72),Ishwar(NGH 16),John(DGH 02        ), Sanjit(No 71), Madhu(NEH 09),  Jeveen (AGH 03) Anand(DGH 15) ,Anmol(NMl 58), Abraham(NGH 25),Suman ( NEH  23), John Baa(NGH 26) and Sanjjid(     ) all of II year.  Kudos to the Hockey Team which maintained the first position for the last four years. Our sweep in the competitions is applauded by even our opponents.

BODY BUILDING:  Sai (DB 26) won the gold medal in best physique in the 85 kg category and was adjudged Mr.Nagarjuna 2010 at Acharya Nagarjuna University. inter-collegiate Best Physique championship held at Tenali, on 1^st & 2^nd January  2010.  Bhavani Prasad (DCP 36) also won the gold medal in best physique in the 80 kg category. Mr.Sanjiv II year won the Bronze medal in the 60 KG Category and M.Jayanth II Yearalso participated. Congrats to all of them Mr.Sai and Bhavani Prasad  won Gold Medal in the Junior National selection trails in the 85 KG and 80 Kg category. Held at JNTU Kakinada. I would like to place on record that the above two athletes promised us last year that they would get  Mr.Nagarjuna  this year .They made it and made us feel proud of them.

  SOFT BALL

            With great pride I announce ALC team won first place in the ANUIC Soft Ball tournament and was adjudged outstanding team having beaten seven colleges. Kudos  to the team  and Caption of the Team G.Ramesh (DGH 08), Joseph(NEH 25), S.Rama Krishna (NML 48), Praveen(NP 26), Kishore (DEM 04), Naga Raju (DEM 45), Srinivas (NCP 33), P.Praveen(DO 80), Sai(            ),Vidyasagar(         ). The team needs our special appreciation as it gave us the first gold in this event for the first time .

CRICKET:

            Congratulations to the Cricket team which won the 2^nd place in the North Zone Acharya Nagarjuna University Cricket Championship.  Congrats to the team Captain Imran, III year, Irfan III year, Santosh, III year, Joseph, II year, Vidyasagar, III year, Ratan Kishore II Year,  N.Ravi of II year, Salman II Year Rajiv II Year Sai III Year , K.Srinivas Sai PG II Year, Sai Ram  II year , Muni Kumar II Year , Kotaiah II year  and Sudhakar I year.

ATHLETICS

            Mr. Praveen of III year DO 80 won the gold medal  in 20 KM walk, but  narrowly missed the University Selection .  This is the first time a girl Athlete Miss. Ramya Krishna has won Silver medal in 5 KM walk. Congratulation to both of them.

University Representation:

            I am very proud and happy to inform you that Sixteen of our students have been selected to represent Acharya Nagarjuna University in the South Zone and All India Inter University Meets. Congrats to all. I will fail in my duty, if I don’t mention that the Loyola contingent is the largest to be selected from any single college in the entire ANU area.
